OAR of Fairfax County (near Washington, DC) was originally called Offender Aid and Restoration by founder Jay Worrall in 1971. Today, this unique organization led by Executive Director Derwin Overton focuses the energies of its 150 volunteers and 20 professional staff on helping offenders in the County criminal justice system and their families cope with extraordinary life situations and successfully integrate back into society.
